Date of preparation: 2008
Project scale: 30km2

Zhenxiong County is the most populous county in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province with its 16 towns and 12 townships under the
jurisdiction. The population in this country is 1.4 million in 2009 with an urbanization rate of 17.3%. Based on the character of the
mountainous city, the planning trends to construct a “five-star
eco-city” centered in the Wufeng Group and surrounded by some satellite towns.
By reasonably securing urban current system, planning urban road network combined with landform, and adopting measures suiting local conditions, the artificial damage to natural landform can be minimized and eco-planning thoughts in implemented. Meanwhile, a virtual “shaft” of the city is formed in combination with landform and historical heritage, which starts from the peak of Wufeng
Mountain in the north and sees remote mountains in the southern new city zone to the southern, and links Kuige Tower, Yuxiu Tower, administrative center, and Fenglaige in series. In such as case, this design style does not only inherit the urban heritage, but also integrates the old and new urban areas into a single concrete region which indicates the design concept of ecology and sustainability.
